Edible Food Packaging, the Latest Breakthrough in Packaging

Scientists are developing a new form of plastic packaging that not only preserves food but are also edible. This research study was conducted by scientists from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. They developed the plastic film from a milk protein known as casein. It looks similar to plastic wrapping but is up to 500 times better at protecting food from oxygen, as well as being biodegradable and sustainable, said the researchers.
